Mrotek Pit – Hwy 77 (Monarch)

I am writing to notify the Town of Round Lake that, weather permitting, we hope to begin startup of the asphalt plant to the Mrotek Pit on May 1st. Maintenance on the asphalt plant is scheduled to begin the week of April 17th to prepare for the 2023 construction season. The estimated work load out of the plant is expected to be similar to last year: on and off as needed to supply asphalt for various projects in the area.

The permitted hours of operations for the asphalt plant are 6:00AM to 9:00PM Monday through Saturday with maintenance allowed one hour before and one hour after.

Milestone Materials will begin stripping in the Mrotek Pit in the first or second week of May depending when road bans come off and weather. Crushing is expected to begin around the same time. Milestone Materials plans on crushing in the Mrotek Pit for an estimated 6-8 weeks.

Our permitted hours of operation for the crusher are 7:00AM to 9:00PM Monday through Saturday; however, we agreed with the Round Lake Town Board in October of 2021 that we would limit our crushing hours at Mrotek from 7:00AM to 7:00PM Monday through Saturday, with the option to extend the crushing until 9:00PM if there was a special situation such as weather or project requirement. At this time, we do no anticipate any weather or project requirements, so we are planning 7:00AM to 7:00PM, Monday through Saturday. If a weather or project requirement comes up and we have to extend the crushing until 9:00PM, I will let you know.
